Because what do you MEAN we're almost halfway through 2025??
the May R.E.P.O.R.T. is ready for you!
Join me, Gems Collective, in bidding a fond farewell to May 2025! May always feels like a month of milestones with school wrapping up and graduations and an overall energy of launching into summer and into new chapters of life.
Here at Gemini home base, we graduated our last ever Kindergartner:
May was filled with all kinds of wonderful moments - including and especially getting to spend time with my sisters and celebrating my brother-in-law’s one year battling cancer milestone. On a personal level, I will always remember May 2025 as the month where I stepped into a new calling. More on that throughout …
If you are looking for a perspective on how the energies of the Universe play out in bigger, more global ways, I always suggest listening to what Pam Gregory has to share. I’ve shared her YouTube channel a number of times, and I’ll probably keep sharing it because I find her overviews and analysis to be so honest but also peaceful. Here’s her forecast for late May going into mid-June.
HAPPY GEMINI SEASON, FRIENDS!! Let’s get into my REPORT for the month of May:
READING
Most of all my reading for the past month has involved learning more about astrology from a number of different perspectives. Some of my favorites have been:
Astrology: using the wisdom of the stars in your everyday life by Carole Taylor. SUPER beginner-friendly.
The Stars Within You: A modern guide to astrology by Juliana McCarthy. Also extremely approachable for beginners, and I really love the way she gives the bigger picture of historical events associated with planetary placements.
The Twelve Houses: exploring the houses of the horoscope by Howard Sasportas. I haven’t read this yet - mostly because my library system doesn’t have a copy - but this is next on my list because I am discovering that the houses are a huge part of understanding the energies available for us to work with through understanding our natal charts.
In the realm of personal reading, I did go back and read The Wedding People (I mentioned DNFing it in the April REPORT), and you know what? It lived up to the hype!! What a beautiful, funny, unexpected story of heartbreak and redemption, love and obligation, and control and surrender. I’ll be thinking about Phoebe and Lila for a long time. (If you are like me and can be a finicky mood reader, I encourage you to give it at least 100 pages before you decide if it’s for you or not!)
ONE LAST THING, I did read a darling Drarry1 fanfic that was so sweet and tender and I just keep thinking about it. It’s called from love, obviously and it’s by bizarrestars on AO3. (You can only access it if you have a registered AO3 account, so I can’t link to it directly - apologies! If you are a registered user, you can search by title.)
It’s a very low-spice happy ending story that features burned-out languishing Auror Harry and thriving and (mostly) confident magical artifact restorer Draco, and there is a plot line throughout of the Weasley’s ongoing grief over Fred’s death that had me, a 47 year old grown-up woman, sobbing quietly in my pillow in the middle of the night as I read. There are a lot of other beautiful themes explored in a mere 52K words like emotional boundaries, reconciliation, and self-discovery, but it was the thread of love and loss that put this on the list of one of my favorites of the year so far!
EATING
I taught myself to use the grill, y’all! Like really and fully and truly, I can grill just about anything now, and I have been having so much FUN with it. Previously, I was terrified to start the grill, convinced there was no way I could do it without blowing myself and my family up by making one dumb move with the propane. I got tired of always asking my husband to start it up or to grill something I had marinated, so I just watched some YouTube videos and made myself push past the fear and to just do it, dammit.
And so I would like to turn your attention to one of my favoritteeeeeeeee things to grill and that is chicken shwarma!
This is the ONE THING that I make for my family where everyone devours it without a breath of picky complaint. I love the recipe from Recipe Tin Eats. I usually make a double-batch of naan to go with it as well, and I serve it with hummus, tzatziki, and fresh veggies on the side. Maybe I should make it truly Lebanese by serving with French fries, too!
Please make chicken shwarma this summer at least once! I promise you will thank me!
PLAYING
This is so random but it was definitely a big part of entertainment for me in the month of May. Kyle and I decided to revisit the first television show we ever watched together in earnest, and that is the early 2000s action series2 24!
Back in 2001 (!!!) when this show premiered (!!!), Kyle was coaching football at TCU so he was rarely home in the evenings, so I would record it on VHS (!!!) for us to watch in the very rare moments of free time he had at home. There is so much nostalgia for us around this series, and in a lull following our mutual enjoyment of Severance and The Pitt, we casually decided to revisit Jack Bauer and friends at CTU.
Reader, it is no longer casual! We can easily mainline three or four episodes an evening, and MY LORD this show is so bingeable! And this was back in the days of 24 episode seasons on network TV, so there is SO MUCH TO BINGE.
One thing that stands out to me on re-watch is that every. single. episode of 24 is absolutely wall-to-wall action at a breakneck speed. In the modern era of TV, you almost expect a few episodes of any given season to function as a “filler” where not much happens. NOT ON 24, BABY. It’s just complete adrenaline from the moment you hit Play every time.
And even though there are some elements that are a little dated, I am going to say it’s still so mesmerizingly watchable that you won’t be disappointed if you decide to queue it up for entertainment in the long stretch of summer ahead!
OBSESSING
I won’t even apologize for the self-recommendation here. Y’all, I am completely obsessed with the readings I’ve gotten to do for my newly launched Spiritual Discovery packages! It’s not even like I’m obsessed with myself … it’s more that I am obsessed with how natural this work feels for me, and how powerfully I can see Spirit working through these discoveries.
It has been extremely intense work, way way more intense than I anticipated, but also extremely rewarding. For example, here is what happened as I was working on a Big Six report last week:
And her response? CHILL BUMPS EVERYWHERE:
We went on to have more conversation around the placements in her chart and how everything was lining up for what she perceived the next chapter of her work life would be, and it was just so THRILLING for both of us!
That is just one peek into some of the discoveries I’ve been able to help facilitate and observe through this work. I feel really hopeful that this is just the beginning of what will end up being a big part of my work going forward. I am so deeply honored that anyone would trust me to accompany them in this sacred space, and I want you to know that being able to share so openly about all things spiritual in this space at Gemini Wrongs has played a HUGE role this epiphany for me, and I am so thankful for that!
RECOMMENDING
Shoot, I’m running out of Substack space. Okay, quick recommend! If you are finding that you are feeling a little off-center, off-balance, anxious, nervous, impatient … just generally ungrounded, may I recommend you consider sending some loving attention to your root chakra?
Your root chakra is the energy center responsible for your sense of safety, belonging, stability, and groundedness. Near the beginning of May, I found this meditation on YouTube to bring balance to this energy center, and I’ve sent it to several people3 who found it to be so helpful.
Meditative Mind Root Chakra Healing - highly recommend!
TREATING
Mother’s Day is so bittersweet for those of us in the Dead Mom’s Club. It was such treat to spend the day with my kids, and when one of them asked what I would like to do to remember my mom on Mother’s Day, I said, “let’s go to nature!” We did a min-hike in her honor, and it was by far the best best best treat of the whole month:
Thank you for reading, and thank you for being part of the Gems Collective!
I would L O V E to hear anything that you would include in your R.E.P.O.R.T. for the month of May!
Ice pops in the freezer and sand in my floorboard (and my washing machine and my shower floor),
Meg
If you’re new here, Drarry is the fandom pairing of Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy. I talk about Drarry fanfics OFTEN so this is not the first or last time a fic ends up in my monthly round-up!
I say action but also? 24 was not without its evening soap opera elements! Some strong angst-driven storylines pop up especially after the first season!
Even my highly skeptical INTJ Enneagram 5 husband is a big fan!
I’m still reeling from my astrology report✨ I’ve read through it a few times & highlighted. The timing of it all is uncanny🌺 I wanna check out those book recs too!
I have to agree that 24 was our first couple binging show. We loved it! Keifer Sutherland at this INTENSE best.
